As a financial adviser, I like at least two things about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Both relate to the fact that anyone who is willing and able to pay for health insurance will be able to get it:
First, Obamacare will foster entrepreneurship. I hear frequently from people who’d like to start their own businesses but can’t because of their inability to get health coverage.
Second, it will allow people to retire early. Not that retiring early is a good thing by itself, but for people with adequate financial resources who stay in jobs only for the health coverage, Obamacare will be a good thing.
Under Obamacare, tying health insurance coverage to employment for many Americans will have met its timely demise.
